Last picture in Spain

Today, after 2 years in Spain, I return home. So happy that I have had the opportunity to travel to Spain and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the people there. There are so many things that I will miss about Spain and part of me is really sad to be leaving. So many memories in Spain and some of my heart will always be there.

The other part of me is really excited to come home to my family who I have missed very much. I am really excited to see my sister! She was still on her mission in South Carolina when I left for Spain so I haven't seen her in 3 1/2 years!

These last 2 years have really strengthened my testimony and I am so very glad I made the decision to go on a mission.

I look forward to seeing all my family and friends at home and meeting new friends wherever I go. I also look forward to continuing the missionary work and helping others to learn of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Love you all

Yeah I'm tired. But in a good way.

I'm exhausted as I write this because we just got done playing two hours of basketball and soccer.
This week was pretty awesome we found a girl that has read the entire Book of Mormon and wants to be baptized. We will definitely be on her like a fat guy on cake. I probably won't be here for her baptism and the others that'll be coming but I'm going to ask President Pack if I will be able to skype in when it happens. Rudy and Claudia will be needing more time but there still going. I feel sad I won't see them be baptized but I'll keep in contact still. I love being here and will definitely miss it. In terms of what will happen this week, just continue onward like normal. Be like Moroni and finish this book that is the mission. I love you all.

Madrid for an awesome meeting!

This week was not so bad. We got to hear a general authority, That was quite a story. His name is Elder Ulysses Soares, of the presidency of The Seventy. We talked about how it's needed to plan and set goals on what we can achieve. The reason why that was the main topic was that many times we view as setting a goal a personal matter, but in reality, we need to set goals as a companionship. I'm no general authority when I say this but that's what we need in this world now. The ability to set goals with others is present so we can achieve the expectations that god has for us as members of his church. Start it off with the hopes and goals as spouses, family, neighborhoods, etc. I believe that God created us with a greater capacity to help one another more than to hurt one another. So, I invite those who read this to make and set plans on what can you and another can do to help build another up.
Yeah, the Èlders told me they had to throw it out. But I found Carlos! A member will ship it to me when he goes to Toledo! So, we'll have him home!
Oh, yes and Madrid was pretty cool 😎.
Con amor

Train to Madrid

Right now, we are on a bullet train to Madrid! We're heading in with the entire mission to a conference with the area presidency and quorum of the seventy. So, we'll be in Madrid for this whole week basically. But the good news is that I'll be in all of my old areas in Madrid! B5, B6, and I'll be staying with the elders in Guadalajara! I'm going to make the effort to visit Ourense within the next week.

But this week was awesome we have two people set up for a baptism the 11 of march. Their names are Rudy and Claudia. We have high hopes for a baptism by the end of this transfer. Other than that, yesterday was a spectacular day. We received eight numbers in the space of one hour and one actually come up to us for the Book of Mormon. We definitely have the ball rolling here and we hope to keep it going.

Èlder Moreno is a hippy from Sandy, Utah.
He had dreadlocks and he liked it. He's an awesome guy.

Love you!

I'll be dying here in Ponferrada😁

Well this week we had transfers. Élder Baerwaldt went down to Madrid again and I'm staying up here Ponferrada. So, do not be concerned with the title of this letter it just means I am ending my mission here. Any good stories of the week? Let me think…….

Yesterday we had four people come to church! They are both families. One where the investigator brought her sister to do genealogy and the other is a family that we found this week through area book. We have huge hopes for them to see what we have in the future and we expect the possibility of baptizing a family this transfer. So yes, we are extremely, extremely, extremely, extremely happy! OK onto the next story.

I have a funny story for you today. This last Saturday was raining a huge amount and there were rivers running through the streets. My companion likes water a lot. He was walking through it and he decided to go into the deep part. As he did he stepped into a puddle that swallowed his whole foot. His shoes were sopping wet. I asked him, “What did you learn?” He said only to run in the puddles that are clear.

Well my new comp comes today late at night so I won't be able to send you pics of him until next pday. But I love you all.

A Hopeful Future with Unfortunate Bus Rides.

Well this was a week of a lot of traveling and meetings. That includes many stories that are both great and could have been better. We watched the missionary broadcast this last Wednesday and it was great. One of the many points I gained from it was that we forget that the gospel of Jesus Christ is one thing. Faith, repentance, baptism, gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. I'm not sure how to write out how I feel about it but yes, it is one. We must have a foundation on the savior to bring any of these things to pass. It's all centered in the figure that we consider to be the great teacher and Savior of the world who is Jesus Christ. If we desire to be one in heart, might, and mind with God we must place his teachings above all worldly things.

In terms of teaching we've been helping members have desires to share the gospel this week. There's been a small amount of success within it. There's a member that has asked us for a Book of Mormon in Portuguese that she give to a friend who's going through a rough time. And another member has become friends with a less active who hasn’t been in contact with the church for several years. We are very excited for what is to come within the next couple of weeks.

And a bus ride we had coming back from a meeting on Saturday was interesting. First a man who was a bit tipsy was on the bus with us. He began talking at us and blocking the aisle for others to get on. In short, he was mumbling nonstop for the space of 30 minutes. When he got off everyone was super relieved. We then ran into a crash on the highway and because of that we missed our next bus. We got home at 11:30 at night 😫.

That's all this week

Love you Elder Broadbent.

Good News

Well I have some good news and some even better news. Good news for the week is we found new people to teach and they seem to be very prepared. They were all taught by missionaries before so they know little bit and they want to learn more. We are excited for that because one has a family so we hope that we can teach a family. I'll have more information on how everything goes next week.

Even better news, a member from one of my areas just got married and he will be sealed in the temple with his new wife in February! Hopefully I will be able to see him and his new wife before I leave. But that'll be a long time ahead, I will be coming back home within two months now. It is extremely weird to think that. Thinking will be doing but all reality I'm not thinking of that, at least I don't want to.

There will be a world missionary broadcast this upcoming Wednesday. That's awesome but not awesome at the same time. Because we will need to take a bus for about 4 to 5 hours. So, happy missionaries.

Funny thing of the week was we ran into a cat lady. She had missionaries over at her house before hand and she has her house full of cats. She said that she has about 40 cats. And it was funnier because the momma cat was named Hitler.

And that was our week I love you all. I know this church is true is because I read the book Mormon, I've prayed and I felt it's true.

Happy New Year

Today we had an interesting day. We took a nap well by that I mean Èlder Baerwaldt took a good nap and I wrote letters.
This week was how can I say this hard but we rewarding. Everyone is still in festivals and we have not taught any new people this week. Here in Spain they have something called los Reyes Magos. The week after Christmas is when they receive the presents and school is out and everyone is on vacation. So it's hard to get a hold of people and to get time set up with them. But we did find someone last week and we've found some good information. The father ends up to be a member. And within the week we've passed out seven Books of Mormon and had good contacts with the people that that we gave them to. We have a lot of hopes to start to teach new people this week. We will attempt to get stuff set up with them and we'll see who desires to have this gospel in their lives.
I love you guys and I will wish you all the best in this world. I also ask those who read this that they may set the goal to read the Book of Mormon by the end of this year. I know many blessings will come from it because I have felt it myself. I know the Book Mormon is true and I desire everyone to read it. I will be doing it myself and I just promised you the blessings that will come from reading it you'll feel joy, peace, and surety throughout your life.
Con amor.
