Elders Broadbent and Schwenke |
We
found these two awesome families from Peru and one of them have never heard of
the Mormons. Llaniña and Darwin never heard of us but Darwin wants to hear more
and Llaniña wants to be friends.
The
Ortundas have heard of the Mormons and they like the Mormons. We have a lesson
set up with them today.
Other
than finding two awesome families, Elizabeth came to church yesterday and said
that she quit her job so she can come. Jose is doing fine, he is excited to be
baptized on the 23rd of May. Andres has been with us non-stop this week.
So
we´ve seen a lot of people but in terms of finding people, this has been the
hardest week. I´ve been spit at and yelled at and one guy about 25 years old
tried to punch me in the back of the head. We walked up to this lady about
grandmas age and right as we started talking she said things in Spanish I
couldn´t understand because she was yelling and babbling. I asked my companion
what she said, she was calling us devil worshippers and declaring god will tie
us down with our master in the last days.
I´ve
been here only three weeks and I feel the same persecution that the early
saints did (besides the being drove out, tarred and feathered).
But
I don´t marvel at the bad acts that people to do us. I marvel at how good the
members are and how they build my own faith. Elizabeth quitting her job, Andres
coming with us every day, and member of the ward who bore his testimony even
though he´s had a stroke and a hole in his neck because he used to smoke.
That´s
all I can type.
Love
Elder Broadbent.
